I Believe

I believe EVERY child should have the right to education.

I believe our history is important and that we need to understand and acknowledge the past to move towards reconciliation.

I believe that treaty land should be acknowledged.

I believe technology should be utilized and bring it into the classroom when purposeful learning is to take place.

I believe that when a teaching contract is signed it means we are signing up to teach ALL students and to incorporate inclusionary practices everyday.

I believe incorporating different cultures and ethnic practices into the classroom benefits all students and enhances their learning through partaking in new experiences.

I believe students should be surrounded by a safe and positive learning environment.

I believe a good assessment is ongoing and gives opportunity for improvement and learning.

I believe a teacher is a teacher 24 hours a day every day. Educators must be aware of the choices they make in day to day life because teachers continually need to be a role model for our students.

I believe lesson plans should be made to suit all abilities in the classroom.

I believe lessons should be planned to utilize various learning styles (i.e. visual, auditory, kinesthetic, etc.).

I believe diversity should be welcomed and  the knowledge it brings should be celebrated.

I believe students should be allowed to show the knowledge they have learned in a variety of ways.

I believe communication with our students is key and get feedback from students continually improves teaching practice, lesson plans, and assessments.

I believe inclusive education brings students together with their peers.
